The king of the giants, a mighty race known to be stronger than any other in the celestial realm. The giants, whose presence alone was enough to produce scalding heat, had been marked as a threat by the Valkyries for ages. Such was the sentiment that Freyja began her persecution against them the moment she formed the Celestial Guardians. Believing himself to be the most powerful being in the universe, Surtr immediately joined the Seven Demon Lords to fight the Valkyries, but his resistance ultimately ended in defeat. Consequently, the giants' innate ability to generate heat was exploited to power the celestial realm, and Surtr spent eons in humiliation. ...And that's how Surtr lost his vigor and woke up as a pretty little lass. This... is me? Elke? Are we still doing this?

Our opinion on Surtr the Last Giant

Surtr the Last Giant is an exceptional hero in both PvE and PvP. His damage output is extraordinary — just slightly below Miraculous Fortune Teller Erin, one of the top 2-3 DPS in the game, with the key difference being that Surtr excels in burst damage while Erin wins on sustained output over long fights. Beyond his raw numbers, he brings two extremely rare utilities : a -75% final Defense debuff and the first non-collab Corrosion applicator in the game. A must-pull.

Strengths

  • Top 3 burst DPS — when Doomsday Guide is active (above 50% HP), his critical hits transform into Doomsday Strike, dealing damage in a 3m AOE while ignoring Crit Rate Resist entirely. His burst window is among the strongest in the game.
  • First non-collab Corrosion applicator in the game — Advent of Calamity applies both Corrosion and Burn simultaneously on every Doomsday Strike. Until now, Corrosion was exclusively available through collab heroes like Heir to the Hidden Palace Siris. Surtr makes this debuff accessible to any roster, unlocking the full Corrosion synergy tree.
  • -75% final Defense debuff — one of the rarest and most impactful debuffs in the game, shared only with Dimensional Administrator Teay.
  • 15-stack Veil — exceptional survivability — his active skill grants a 15-stack Nullify damage buff for 20 sec, one of the highest Veil counts available in the game. In PvP, this makes him extraordinarily difficult to burst down, and in PvE it provides a long safety window during his most impactful damage phase.
  • Crit Rate Resist ignore — Doomsday Strike completely ignores the target's Critical Hit Rate Resist, meaning no investment in Crit Rate is needed to land critical hits consistently. Build him full Crit Damage or full Attack for maximum damage output.

Weaknesses

  • HP management required — Doomsday Strike consumes 3% Max HP per use, and if running an Overload-heavy team (common with heroes like Ecila), the combined HP drain can push him below 50% HP, deactivating Doomsday Guide and dropping his damage significantly. A strong healer is mandatory to maintain his peak performance.

Recommended Synergies

  • White Whale Luna — gains +250% final damage against Corrosion targets, making Surtr her ideal partner to replace Heir to the Hidden Palace Siris.
  • Solderet's Contractor Jin — gains +100% final damage against Corrosion targets, a massive boost enabled by Surtr's consistent Corrosion application.
  • Herald of Peace Rauha — mandatory healer to offset the HP drain from Doomsday Strike and any Overload self-damage, ensuring Surtr stays above 50% HP to maintain Doomsday Guide permanently.

Best Game Modes

  • All PvE content — his -75% Defense debuff, Corrosion application and top-tier burst DPS make him impactful across every major PvE game mode without exception.
  • PvP (Arena) — his 15-stack Veil, Crit Rate Resist ignore and AOE Doomsday Strike make him a legitimate first team PvP pick. Extremely hard to burst down and deals massive damage simultaneously.
