When Elke failed to return after leaving to look for cooking tools, Ponpo, dressed up for the one-year anniversary of Elke's Adventure Party's formation, set out to look for her on the deck of the ship. He found Elke, who had succeeded in collecting various knickknacks by holding them in her upturned hat, but had failed to return because she was lost in the view through the looking-glass at the stern. But I haven't become famous, nor have I found granny, and now there's another, older, meaner hag trying to kill me... Ponpo held the cake in his hands as Elke's face flickered between tears and smiles. It's not what you think... I wasn't crying. Elke placed the dumbfounded Ponpo on her head and the cake on top of her pile of tools in her hat, and ran back to her six friends that were waiting for her. Tears streamed down her face, but she wasn't sad. Becoming famous was harder than she thought, but that wasn't going to stop her.
